Lippincott Mine

Once we got into camp and setup, there was time to do some exploring before dark. The nearby ruins of the Lippincott mine was one such area to explore. I would not recommend going into the mines, they are very dangerous and unstable, and have many deep pits. Most of the entrances have been sealed with heavy Steel nets. But I'm always fascinated by their construction and the life style of the old miners, and the ruins make for some great photographs.

Bottomless pits are all over the mine

Lots of interesting rock inside

Guess the miners liked to drink.. the remains of cases of whiskey

More ladders leading up

You never know what you will find inside - this is the remains of a case of blasting caps

Wood support beams holding up unsteady sections of the mine

An old pair of boots, still haning in the mine.
