Big Bear Friday Run (it will take a bit for all the thumbnails to load below)

Well, Since a few of us had nothing better to do on a Friday, (In my case no job!) Me, David V. and Jerry headed up to Big Bear to do some runs that day.. We started by heading out towards Pontiac Sluice, got lost a bit and found a neat abandoned trail. We ran that back up to the dirt road, and then correctly found our way up to Pontiac Sluice.. The good old Pontiac was still at the bottom, and we took the trail up the narrow sluice, up to the top and back down.. After that, we headed over to the Gold Mountain Trail, took some harder bypasses, and finally arrived at the John Bull Trail... Which was pretty much covered in Snow and Ice.. Plus now it was getting dark..  Did that stop us? Nope,, I went up first.. then David V. tried, with with his 32" AT tires could not make it up, and got stuck on a big ole' rock.. Jerry yanked him free, and we decided to leave his truck at the trail head and he would ride with Jerry.. So off me and Jerry went to do John Bull.. In the Snow and Ice.. And in the dark! It was pretty fun, it only took us about 40 minutes to finish the trail.  Plus I even found a perfectly good rock light sitting in the snow in the trail..Then, as we were going on the normal dirt roads after John Bull, I somehow blew a hole in the sidewall of my Procomp MT.. Once again the offending rock was nowhere to be found, having done a second hit and run on me,.. and we changed out the tire in the cold snow.. After all that fun, we then  promptly got lost in the dark for an hour or so until we found our way back to David V's truck, and headed back to pavement to air up.. It was soo cold by then, than when ever we hit a large somewhat frozen puddle of water, the water would instantly freeze to our trucks.. I ended up with almost a solid half inch of ice encasing my entire truck.. One good smack to the body would send it cracking though..

In all, it was a great run for the day, the only bummer being my blown tire.. But now that tire has been replaced with a Goodyear MTR..  and full road hazard on all 4 tires.. 8-)
